First seasons tournement

This sunday, it called for the first tournement of the season, it was Battle Road in Oslo.

The night before i had been thinking of what decks will be played, a made a deck which counters the main threats of the metagame and feel confident with it. I come early to Oslo, Sune is late, registration is late but w finally start.

R1 Vs. Oscar w/ Luxray LM
Oscar starts with a Shinx against my lone Chatot. He attaches a energy, get another one from attack. I only have poop in my hand, refresh my hand with Chatots attack. Oscars turn, he rare candy's to Luxray, attaches energy and boom, 100 damage to my lone Chatot.

0-1

I was bummed after loosing my first round in less than 2 minutes. Sune won against his opponent who played a Gyarados deck.

R2 Vs. Cant remember name w/ Blaziken SV and PL
I get a quick Gardevoir up and start power locking him. He has a Blaziken SP Lv.X up, and he soons gets a Blaziken PL on his becnh, but it is useless because I am powerlocking him all the time. I go through all of his Blaziken with a steady 60 damage per turn and a nasty power lock.

1-1

Sune's opponent was the player who came 2nd that day, he was playing a Gengar deck and won against Sune.

R3 Vs. Sune /Beedrill
This game was so much fun, its great to play against my best friend :D
I got a quick Gardevoir up and kept him from using Cosmic Power, without powers, Sune wasn't able to get his Beedrill's up quick enough. Sune does never get up more than 2 Beedrill at a time in this game, and i win by prize.

2-1

Me and Sune go for a kebab in the lunch break, really spicy!

R4 Vs. Khanh w/Flygon and Weavile
Khanh starts with a Absol SW discarding my Rare candy. I still get a quick Gardevoir up and start locking his powers. He gets up a quick Flygon, but cant do much damage with it. I quickly get ahead of him in prize, but he gets up a Weavile to power up his only Flygon. I knew the key to this game was to not play any Lv.X or any stadiums, so i just played it cool, trying to have control in the game by locking his powers, so i kept on doing that untill i had one prize left, switch in my Gallade and flip a prize for 80 damage against his Weavile.

3-1

I was so happy over winning against Khanh, mostly because he was being a smartass when i called a judge when he done a play that was not allowed and when his cousin came talking to him in the middle of the game. Sune lost his last game of the game, 2 of his Beedrill's were prized and we dont have a Azelf, so if you are reading this, please send it to us :D

Going 3-1 in my first tournemant feels good, only loosing to a donk. I think i could have beaten his Luxray deck had i have got a better start. In all the games i played, my opponents didnt take more than 1 prize, and in 3 of those games, it was a prize i gave them when sacrifing my Chatot. Overall it was a good day, i endt up in 5th place, but i dont feel to bad about it since it was only top2.

First time at league

Hey everybody.

So yesterday was my first time at league for a really long time. My friend Sune moved to Oslo, so he lives all alsone in an apartment in the country's capital city. Oslo is ofc the best place in Norway for pokemon mostly because of the huge player base. We both wanted to try attend some more league then we are used to and yesterday was our first time at the Oslo league.
I came there and met my friend Sune, he was taking to the League Leaders, Khanh and Rafael, they both ignored me when i said hello and they didnt answer me at all when i asked if i could sign up for the league. Great SotG :D

Never the less, there were more cool people there. A guy named Hayder asked me to sit down and talk, he is a guy with humour and he is always making jokes. My friend Mikkel then comes, im really glad to see him ^^ Me and Sune play a game each and a game against Mikkel and Hayder. We then leave and eat kebab (yummy) and later we meet my brother Kim. We went to this free concert outside in the woods to see Satyricon and Kaizers Orchestra.

The black metal band Satyricon kicked ass, i was there with Kim and Sune rocking off in the crowd and i met Mikkel there again and a old friend he was with that i met through pokemon. I meet two more girls, both of them i have met through my clase mate Martin. When Kaizers come to play, the crowd just grows huger and huger and i get seperated from my friends. I am standing in a crowd with girls who wants to have their picture taking with me. Lots of strange stuff happend and one of the girls tells me we went to school together, but i find that hard to believe as she probably was drunk. So later, some guys gay up towards me, i get pissed and leave.
We had parked like, really far away from the concert because we didnt know where to drive. So we walk 15-20 mins through the forest with no other light then the lights from our mobilephones xD We reach the car and our shoes are soaked and dirty.

So, what a league day that turned out to be! :O Well, after all, Sune is angry because he didnt get to trade any of the cards he wanted and he still wants a new deck. So...im tuning out, saturday night is calling......

Autumn has come!

So to start this blog post, i will give you a picture of a norwegian summer night :D
From left to right: Sune, me (Chris) and Kim

Summer is over! Yes....i hate to say it >_<

I had a really nice summer, it was the first time ever since i was 8 years old that i havn't had training planned for the summer. So what did i do then? Well, i can summerize it with a few words:

>Stayed at my friend Sune for a few days
>3 weeks in southern France in our camping vagon <3>Chilled at home

So in these 8 weeks of vacation, i'v relaxed a bit and played a few matches of pokeymanz. With help from my BFF Sune, we built a deck for my brother Kim. We built a pretty basic Tyranitar deck with Weavile as energy acsselerator, apparently we must have built a great deck, because neither of us has yet to win a game against him! That is how good that Godzilla is..
Me and Sune havn't been using good decks either, so i'm not so convinced its the BDIF :P

So finally me and Sune got our box of RR cards for us helping out at Pokemon day. We decided to make some new epic decks since Sune is still using his Ampharos deck he started out with last season and i'm just changing between random stuff. We will also try to attend some more tourneys this season, Battle Roads are just right around the corner!

Faw shaw, over and outs! Btw. i will try to post some more blog post in future if any of you actually care about my blog ^^

My nats report

So, I am known for writing looong nats reports, but thats only because I write alot of other info that happend that weekend. This time, I will try to keep it short.

Friday - Preperation day

My friend Sune comes over, we playtest alot and decide on decks. Sune is playing spread with Manectric PL, Bronzong MD and both Ampharos' with a Mewtrwo Lv.X tech. I'm playing Dialga G, pretty straight forwards. We predict the metagame, we prepare for many Gengar, Machamp and SP variants.

Saturday - Swiss rounds

I stress around getting the final cards for my deck (Thanks to Mikkel L) and me and Sune both hand in our list and register. We sit and wait around untill registration is finished, there are bout 40 players in Masters and there will only be Top 8. So, game on!

Round 1 - René with SP variant
He flips over a Sableye SF and i start with Dialga. I start locking his trainers while he gets a setup with Gyarados G and a Golduck PL. He is switching his pokemon around with all pokemon in reach of a KO with Dialga's 2nd attack. He uses 2 Poke Healer's to heal his Gyarados to kill my only Dialga. I dont recover after this so he wins.
0-1

Round 2 - Live with Anti SP (Kabutops and Machamp)
Live gets a quick Kabutops up, locking my energy gains, poketurns and power sprays. I eventually kill her Kabutops with my Dialga, but she gets another up. After alot of back and forth KO's, time is called and we are even on prize. It's Live's turn, she is desperatly trying to get a Rare candy with many draw trainers and Uxies, she eventually gets one, gets a Machamp up, knocking my Dialga out.
This was a really even match and despite my horrible matchup, I was not to sad about loosing this game.
0-2

Round 3 - Roar with Dialga G and Anti SP techs (Infernape 4 and Lucario GL)
I start this game, beeing absolutley devestated as he then gets trainer locking me with deafen. I only have Energy Gains, and I dont draw into any energys. Roar gets to KO'ing many of my pokemon, I make a comeback with Dialga Lv.X, but time is called and Roar is leading on prize.
This game was a nightmare, Roar disagreed in many of my plays (i.e. I used Roseannes, found an Uxie and a energy, I put them down on the table while a shuffle my deck and take them up on my hand, he goes "What!? You already put Uxie down with a energy on it!" and he called judge, three times in this game he called a judge and everytime I had right.
0-3

Games are going really bad, I have had bad luck with draws, and really bad matchups. Me and Sune go to Burger King for lunch hoping for some better plays. Sune is lying 2-1.

Round 4 - Hans Richardt with Gengar and Mewtwo Lv.X and other techs
This is the single most rude player I have ever played against in my many years of pokemon. He was cheeky when I came late because I had to make a quick toilet brake. He commented rudly on my glasses, orderd me to sit down and cut his deck as he stated I had wasted many of his minutes. I kept shuffling my deck as we are enigbled with 2 minutes setup for each game, he drags the deck out of my hand while I'm shuffling saying i'v shuffled enough, time hasn't even started yet! We start playing, I start out with a Dialga and lock his trainers. He gets a quick Gengar out but i KO it with Dialga. He then actually says "Fuck you" to me when I KO it and I'm shocked. He rips out every card I play from my hand to read the text and says again "Fuck you". He gets out a Mewtwo Lv.X, Giratina Lv.X and Uxie Lv.X and tells me to Fuck off, he says "look at all my good cards, you know you're gonna loose, just fuck off allready". He KO's my Dialga Lv.X and all is lost as he still has a Mewtwo Lv.X and I dont have any other way to counter.
After the round, he actually has the nerve to ask me if I think he's a good player. I feel increadably offended and disgraced that there is a player with so bad SotG.
0-4

Round 5 - Some girl with Rhyperior
She doesn't get anything other then a Rhydon out, I KO everything quick with Dialga.
1-4

Round 6 - Some guy with random grass
I basically kill most of the pokemon he plays with Dialga and Toxicroak. He keeps on bragging about that he has red the whole rule book and states what will happen, who will top cut and how resistance works through TOM. I dont think he realizes that I'v been in the TO business and I dont need this explained. After I win, he wants me to write my name and deck in his little book for his turney report and he takes a photo off me.
2-4

Game over, basically.

I'm quiet dissapointed with my overall preformance, but I do blame 3/4 of my loses because of bad matchups. However, my 2 wins were not against generally good players, and my self esteem isn't actually boosted by this event. However, I'm happy for Sune going 3-3.

Sunday - Top cuts and side events
Me and Sune come with my brother Kim to attend the schedueld side event, just saying "modified tournemant". When we reach the torunemant venue, we see this side event is a prerelease. We dont have the money to attend this tourney, so we just leave again as there is no other tcg based events going on other than top cuts. Kim then takes us for a kebab before we go to work.

Overall, it was a nice weekend, but I'm not happy at all with my preformance. So, all that is left is then props and slops!

Props:
Sune, for being my best buddy and doing great!
Mikkel L, for lending me cards and placing 4th!
My brother, for driving us to Oslo

Slops:
The venue, it was too far away from Downtown Oslo and no place to buy food
Players with bad SofG

So, I tried as good as I can to write it short, but I dont know, dont really think I managed it to well...

My road to worlds

Okay, so my goal is set, I'v been playing long enough without any real accomplishments. This upcoming season I want to step my preformance up a notch and add some victories under my belt. My goal for this season is to attend Worlds 2010.

So, who am I?

My name is Christian, I go under the name Cloud9 at forums and other places. I live in a little place called Asker, a bit south of Oslo, Norway's capital. I am the local league leader and have been doing so for almost 5 years. I started playing competetive pokemon tcg at the prerelease of Fire Red & Leaf Green and have been sucked into the game since. After I started playing the game I became eager of making the best possible decks out and started trading cards for many decks. I played few tournemants in the RS-On format using a Gardevoir ex deck. When the HL-On format started, I attended more and more tourneys and built many strong decks. While not winning any big tournemants, i ent up placing 6th in Nationals with a Dragtrode deck, recieving my highest placing in Nats I have attended. In the DX-On format, I built almost all decks I saw win tourneys and I became more active on internet forums. I learnt alot more about metagaming and how to counter decks, this way I placed high in many tourneys, but never at the top. I got bummed off loosing my Top 32 game in Nats with a Metanite deck, this was the season I was at my top and I was hoping for a possible Worlds invite. When HP-On was announced I was so pissed about the format that I only attended 2 tournemants that season going 1-X at both off them. I jugded Nationals this year, but I realised that I'm still hungry to win.

When DP-On started I wanted to play again, me and my best friend Sune each bought ourself a theme deck, we played and played and tried building the best deck we could based on the theme deck. Sune ent up making a Ampharos/Bronzong deck and I made a Magmortar/Togekiss deck. I only attended 2 tournemants this season before Nats, 1 BR and 1 CC, both using my Magkiss deck. I went 2-2 at both, only loosing to Kingdra variants, in which way I was quiet pleased with myself. I got myself a box of Platinum cards for judging my local STP and built a nice Dialga G deck I used for Nats, which was obviously the wrong choice (read my future nats report).

This season I am much more commited to the game and I will prepare in a much better way than before. From now on I will buy booster boxes from each set (which I have not done before 'cause of economics), playtest many more decks, attend as many tourneys as possible and never ever attend a torunemant with a deck I'm not to sure about. I have much more spare time this year and I will try to travel to more places to play and try playtesting against more skilled people than random rogue players at League.

Thus far, I have set myself a goal, this upcoming season, 2009-2010, DP-On, I will commit myself much more to the game, play the best I can and play to win! I want to be with the top, I want to be a respected player. I don't want to recognized as "that league leader from tha random place", I want to be a feared player but also have the best of SOTG. This season, I want to attend World 2010! So follow my blogg, I will update with deck idead, tourney reports and other random stuff.

So prepare yourself, we will meet at Worlds 2010!
